James Schaeffer Center for Contemporary Opera Collection
The collection consists of twelve boxes of materials related to the Center for Contemporary Opera, including scores, libretti, correspondence, programs, magazines, and photographs. Many of the works were new commissions and appear in incomplete draft or excerpted form. Most of the accompanying correspondence is addressed to Jim Shaeffer and features a creator’s pitch of their work or performance instructions.
Luigi Ricci Collection of Italian Opera Libretti
The collection consists of 2 boxes of opera libretti from the collection of Luigi Ricci (1893-1981). Ricci acquired these items from the collections of Francesco Maria Albini (1829-1917) and Alberto Cametti (1871-1935). Most descriptions are taken from a catalog compiled by Robert C. Simon and Leslee V. Wood, and provided by J & J Lubrano.
Paula Homer Collection
The collection consists of 17 boxes of media from UNT Opera performances directed by Prof. Homer, and other materials related to her career with the UNT College of Music.
Phillip Barbosa Collection
The collection consists of nine boxes of photos, programs, documents, and memorabilia from the Dallas Opera.
Ron and Mary Beth Williams Collection
Simon Bucharoff Collection
Stanton Golding Collection
The collection consists of four boxes of ephemera and other materials found during the cataloging of Golding's substantial donation of books to the Music Library's circulating collection.
Whit Ozier Test Record Pressings
The collection consists of three boxes of 78 rpm test record pressings, primarily from Columbia Records. The Columbia items often have the name of employee John Ball on the label, as well as that of Paul Affelder; such labeling appears to correspond to tentative assignments for writing liner notes. Many discs are housed in the commercially produced containers made for the finished product, though many of the discs themselves are apparently unreleased alternate takes.
